Ah, reverse negative spaces on the tree and grass--nifty. And how very dark your darks are--hard pressed 4B?
And chimney studies. Ten I count. Dare you go on to 25? Great grays on the chimneys. Still a 4B? On Bristol? Tell me about the black thing coming out of the top of the chimney?
Love the bottom pic where the window is hugging the two-pot chimney. High-toned with black accents makes for good composition in my estimate. I like your treatment of the windows--not all uniformly black. They aren't, are they? Some light things inside. Some reflections. Other subtle variations. Nice feel. Believable in pencil. An interesting vignette of a unique house. It makes me want to see that room with the gable window next the chimney.
The East Side is full of wonderful chimneys. I want to come and draw some too. Still thinking about a sketch-crawl some day this summer. Jones Island ships, East Side. Sail boats. Downtown. Walker's Point. Any or all.
the black thing is exactly what i saw. could be an eagle, could be santa's boot. could be i need glasses.
Theodore can do an amazing chimney with two short strokes of his pencil. he has mastered being able to do even tones where necesssary and uneven tones where necessary. I still struggle with what direction to use for my pencils strokes!
