Got a new sketch book in Berea, KY. The others were packed. Way too conspicuous, 8 x 11, hence the still life. But the paper is great. See the comment below.
"Watson-Guptill Sketchbook" Smooth paper, almost slippery compared to what I'm used to. My mechanical 2B didn't do much, looked washed out. I started using a Derwent 4B and HB. I like the look.
The ATL light is indeed different--higher sun, as in Santa Fe. But that was high desert, thin air and, though brighter, thin light as well. Here it's brighter too, but thick. I haven't really noticed it much in the landscape. Things are pretty much suburb-scapes, or else in open country, canopied hardwood forest. I've noticed it most driving. The windshield is too bright.

ReplyDeleteI like the really thick lines in the third one - and the garlic roots. Is the light in ATL different?
