Here is a series of videos that I made for VBS. All of the videos were shot without scripts, and a good ten minutes of planning. Keeping that in mind., they didn't turn out too badly. The kids helped with with the supporting characters.

Here is a critique of the videos that I made for VBS this year.
ReplyDeleteI should preface this critique by saying that all of these videos were shot with out any script or practiced dialogue. Most were shot in one or two takes. The ideas for each video were developed usually at supper each not, and recorded that evening. I also know the lighting is HORRIBLE. With that in mind, here is was i thought of the videos.
VID #1
PROS:
1. @48 Sec, looking at bag was nice.
2. (for example @1:06) couple of times R/L head motion was nice
CONS:
1. Once puppet took center, he “slid” around alot.
2. “thinking” gesture could have been better
3. too profile on exit
4. “sinking” or trouble keeping proper height, like @1:24.
5. biggest problem: Pace. The whole thing felt rushed which makes it hard to watch, like a train that is going to derail at any moment. (Some of that obnoxiousness is a character choice, but it still could have been slowed down and maintained the same energy)
VID #2
PROS
1. More relaxed
2. Good eye contact with Ruff @43 sec
3. Pace was better
CONS
1. “sinking” off and on through out video
2. head in the shot a few times
3. apparently exited down a staircase at the end.
VID#3
PROS
1. Good constant eye contact with camera
2. Tad looked like he was reading the teleprompter
3. Good pace
CONS
1. Head in the shot
2. too profile on exit
VID#4
PROS
1. Ending is heart warming (because it ends…)
CONS
1. too profile for most of first scene with ruff and horrible eye contact with camera. Eye contact improves a little later in the video
2. Sinking
3. I’m in the shot a lot.
