FF Ex-Zoned

The bottom one is a foliage landscape and clouds.

The middle one is the bank corner in Elroy. I drew the large tree trunk first, and you can see how my pen began to run out, though I did make the stuff behind the tree lighter intentionally. Some teachers speak very highly about different line thicknesses.

The top two brick samples are pencil. The ink ones don't seem to have much difference, but I brushed them all with water. Two smeared. Good or bad?

I like the drag of the fountain pen compared to the slip of the ball point. The Sharpie "Pen" has the finest lines. The non-smearing ones can be used with watercolors.

Ex-Zone

And none of these lines are straight. I'm hoping you won't notice.

No Zone

Ballpoint. Bic. Blue. Oops, how did that pencil one get in there? You may be saying to yourself, "I can't always tell what this guy is drawing", well, that is natural, considering my skill level.

KEEPING AT IT: Beyond the Zone

Let's try what is new for each of us--some approach we don't usually use. Like a different medium, different pencils, or something beside pencils, like a ball point, or fountain pen, or crayons or pastels or cut-up paper. Let's for a week just try to stretch our horizon and venture past our usual comfort zones. It will be good to get back later, but we may also find and make a new friend.
'Til "Beyond Saturday," then.

PS I find this scary.

non-standard-location-sketches

Flowers and trees at Boerner Botanical Gardens, picnic table at some park in Shorewood, and the bird was actually from the standard location. Insightful quip here.
