GLEANINGS ON THE WAY

"Don't draw everything you see or your picture will look cluttered and fussy." Norman Battershill "Draw Trees"

the light is better these days

Just, you know, some stuff, here. We use the pencil, we make the pictures. Spring sunlight is definitely more defining than Winter sunlight.

My "scanner" light must have been too dim when I "scanned" these - some detail did not make it.

FF T-23

I have always loved trees. Now after my self-assignment to draw 50 I am madly in love with them. They are each a stroke of divine genius. The variety, the complexity, the graceful and gnarled forms, sometimes in one tree, the textures, the colors--and way more. I recommend it. I've been studying only a few different trees at a time. Ones I know. Until I know them intimately. So far I did 12 Box Elder pix--twigs, seeds, trunks, not even trying the whole thing yet. I'm getting to know them, their characteristics and their quirks. Ted K and old John F. Carlson were right. Study them until you know them. They forgot to mention the bonus--it's great fun. Plus, studying trees seems appropriate for this week.

KEEPING AT IT: Gentle Reminder

If, when you post, you put your initials in the lower right box, "Labels for this post," then you and all of us can click on your initials and find all of your pictures at once. Occasionally you may want to check your stuff in this way for comments added since the pix were on the front page.

Well, post Saturday is Sunday, so here's a post. That was a parked cop car at Estabrook.
This was actually done before Autumn was born - I got one in this week, but I didn't feel it was worth posting. Just getting back up to speed I guess.

POST SATURDAY POST

This is from our front steps. The ones without transformers and arc lamps look like crucifixes. Everywhere. Hauntingly.
