Octo Orange 3

Bottom: Same porch, less ghost, plus flag.
Middle: Orange sky-piece. It's good to have an interesting sky-piece. Even if you don't have one. Make one.
Top: Orange-range; Burnt Sienna and Cerulean Blue

  1. Re. Orange-range: "Plan your whites." So says David Millard in "The Joy of Watercolor." He adds, "Be on the lookout for the uniqueness of white patterns when you approach your subject. If there doesn't seem to be any, then learn how to conjure them up."

None of this white stuff planning is possible unless you tone down the rest of the picture. Infinitely easier with a light wash of watercolor. How far to go beyond that is part of the fun.

  2. Re. "Planning Whites" The white house was actually green. The "brick" house was actually white clap-board.

The last four posts are pencil and watercolor. I am still in love with my .09mm 2B. Not as crisp as the pen and inks, but it's my zone. OK, so I'll push beyond. Betimes.
