CHALLENGE: Chance Limits
Let's start drawing again! Whoever will, one and all, let this be fun! No art here, just creative thinking with a pencil. But what a "just" that is.
This is from Sonheim's Drawing Lab:
Pick two numbers between one and ten.
Then look at the two lists in the "Comments" below and make a drawing of your combination. Make two or three different drawings of the same combo, more if you can, and pick your favorites. Post at will. Dougie and I are already done!
GLEANINGS ON THE WAY: Limits
"Limit gives form to the limitless." Pythagoras
"The fewer limitations the artist imposes on his work, the less chance he has for artistic success." Alexander Solzhenitsyn
"Without firm limits there is no play." Rem Koolhaus
"It's a paradox: When you have complete freedom, you often freeze up and do nothing." Carla Sonheim: Drawing Lab for Mixed-Media Artists

FF Two Against Three
Got this idea from Ted Kautsky and an article in an art magazine. Ted showed me the importance of the three value system. The magazine article was about pitting two of those tones against one. One tone should be dominant--over half the drawing. The other two tones fill in the rest, with one of those taking over half that space. See further comments below.

FF Garlic & Shallots Series
Got a new sketch book in Berea, KY. The others were packed. Way too conspicuous, 8 x 11, hence the still life. But the paper is great. See the comment below.

One of the major differences in quality is the mouth. Not only on the inside, but the outside as well. I sewed the fabric. I didn't glue it. To me, that gives it a "cleaner" look. It's a little harder to do than gluing, but it's worth the effort. The blue puppet in the photos below isn't finished. He is missing hair and ears and details inside his mouth. In fact, all of the puppets could use a little more finishing work.
More puppet fun!

The blonde puppet and the spikey hair dude (below) are the first two puppets I ever made. I'm glad I found their pictures. Here are some more. The mean looking one is supposed to be a vin Diesel puppet. I made it for Tracy for Christmas. The stop two were my first puppets with a new pattern. I'll post again to show you the difference in quality between a few of my puppets.
