Ah, smooth paper. You might like to try a pad of "Strathmore, Bristol-smooth," Hobby Lobby. It's the old "Bristol Board," often used for ink. E.W. Watson talks about "Clay-Coated Paper." I never found any, other than discards from print shops stashed as packing. It's super smooth. The "slicks," as printers call magazines printed on it.
