Some sketches

All warm and fuzzy for ya this week - workin on bushes, the proportions of things and not getting rushed. Had to develop a new method of using the camera - anything within 2 feet of the lens is blurry, it must be one of those infinite focus lenses, for "flexibility". Well, taking the pictures from 2.5 feet away helped to reduce blurriness and show some strokes.

  1. Of course the top contour drawings with their "volumetic forms" caught my eye first. Wonderful perspective on the top one--everything's aiming at a vanishing point off to the left. As they must.

A good overlap is careful not to cross the intersections. Your tree is a fine example of doing that right. There, that is volume without shading.

Congrats! It takes boldness to just draw without searching for the line. Drawing with ink helps hone that skill.

I like the other drawings as well. More later.

  2. The third one from the top: Intriguing picture. I like the masonry feel of it. Nice fence made of negative shapes. Tell us a little about it: What is the building with the arched windows? And what is that diagonal wall with the flower pot?

On the picture below it: Is this through an upstairs window? At work?

I like your thematic approach--this week, bush studies.
