KEEPING AT IT: Repeats

Let's do some repeats. Draw the same thing at least three times. "You don't really know a thing until you have drawn it." (See Comments below)

Swallowtail

Mom found this Swallowtail completely in tact but dead on the ground in front of our parked car at Kwick Trip.

Bottle Caps

Corked Spice Bottle (Cherry)--the background has an "implied something," actually nothing other than a way to avoid a dull monotone background.

Elmer's--colored pencil

sketcheres2

and some tilty houses.

sketcheres1

A couple from Father's Day in here - that was fun. Who knew you had to do multiple sketches in a row to warm up?

FF Both Together

This is the last two pictures together. It's the new bank in West Salem. It was a bit of a perspective challenge because the walls were not horizontal but slightly angled to the center of what looks like two buildings, a large one and a small one. The door is between the two peaks.

KEEPING AT IT: "Bottle Caps"

Any bottle, any cap. T'll Cap Saturday, then. (If it's a beer bottle, you must empty the bottle first.)

Photo vs Artist's Hand

The bottom pic was done with three pencils, 2B, HB, & 2H; gives more of a photo finish. I think if I tried REAL hard I could make a picture come close to a black and white photo. I don't want to . . .

KYC logo

after several attempts at creating a logo that commuicated that the KYC is a Christian ministry, but that it's intended for urban youth....these are my offerings. We'll see what the final is. There are a lot of things to consider in logo design. Does it communicate the idea? It is simple enough to recognize? Can it be printed, re-printed, embroidered easily? that kind of stuff. (The green logo isn't quite right because the black between the e and r is not fully colored in)

FF Luke's Kitchen

Did this one standing. That meant holding the drawing book. It wobbled a lot. But I'm happy enough with the result. Takes me back there to that charming place.

FF Hub Holes

I decided to draw nothing. The negative spaces. The holes in hubcaps.

KEEPING AT IT: Re-Treads & Stuff

How about another week of tired subjects so the Absent One can catch up? Til Tire Saturday II, then. Or if you're sick and tire-d of this subject, make it any car part. Now there is something for a still life.

FF Tar Babies

Tars are hard. Hubcaps nigh impossible. But I do like the black crescent moons in the gap between tire and fender, and the intriguing cast shadows.

My best subjects drove off suddenly. Rudely. Without asking.

Dad may recognize one of these tires. Can you spot the Lincoln?

KEEPING AT IT CHALLENGE "Tires"

Let's try our hand at tires. Or more tires, as the case may be. Tires, hubcaps, wherever you find them, cars, semis, Harleys, bikes, toys, anything. An easy subject if you are in the parking lot waiting for your wife.

Til "Tire Saturday," June 6, then.
